Sunday night's Venison Dinner was a huge success. Chef Ty prepared a seven course meal that displayed a variety of venison preparation methods. Each course was paired with a complimentary wine that gave dinner-goers the opportunity to experience the unique nuances of flavor that each course commanded.

Soup-er-Bowl

Chef Ty wins the first annual Starkville Souper Bowl Competition, held at the state theatre on Saturday Feb. 2nd. Sixteen local restaurants competed against each other in this soup competition. BIN 612 takes first place in this event. The winning Soup was a Roasted Mississippi Sweet Potato, with a Goat Cheese Mousse, Topped with Fired Jalapeno. With over two hundred guest, This annual event is sure to only grow in the coming years.

Wild Duck Gumbo Contest

Chef Ty Thames takes first place in Mean Mallard's annual wild duck Gumbo contest.  Over 300 people attended to try the different styles of gumbo, which was held in the Mean Mallard parking lot in Jackson MS on Feb. 23rd.  With a panel of judges each contestant entered their gumbo in a chance to win the bragging rights, and a Over/Under 12 gage SPR 320 Remington shotgun.  When the results were in, it was team BIN 612 that took first.

Chef Ty Takes Gold in Star Shine

Chef Ty wins first place in taste and first place in creativity.  Local chefs compete against one another in local event to raise money for a fine arts scholarship. With celebrity chef Tim Creehan, renowned artist Wyatt Waters, and Malcom White as judges scored Thames the highest in two categories. This annual event was held at the MSU Aeronautics Raspet Center at Starkville airport. see Starkville Daily news for more details.
